Now at the end of the 90’s, as the communications infrastructure progresses, I’ve heard that the number of users of Internet Bulletin Board Systems are increasing. The Chewing Bride is an urban legend spread through these BBS. The rumour is as follows. There’s a ghost you can talk to in H City, found in a telephone box. When you wait in that box, suddenly the phone will ring.
Answer the phone and…chew chew…you hear a strange sound like this. After that, a woman’s voice asks, “Did you see?”. According to the rumour you should answer, “I didn’t see.” Then she says, “What do you want to see?” Actually, she told the location of someone’s missing pet, but it’s a mysterious story.
Therefore, the interest in this ghost amongst those searching for a person or a missing item is high.Strangely, until now this apparition hasn’t been part of the Sign story. However, from talking about this situation with Merry it is probable that Eita and Suzu’s Sign was caused by this spirit. Also, I wonder why this spirit is called “bride”? If it’s called a bride, there might also be something it is looking for…
